Website changes

Due to lack of use by the members and because the web mistress will be away for several months, interactive functions of the Bundaberg Organic Gardeners website have been disabled. This includes newsletters, comments, events and the ability for members to post comments or information to the website. The site will continue to serve as a source of information about the club for those interested in learning more or getting involved.  Thanks for your interest!

Welcome!

Welcome to the new website of the Bundaberg Organic Gardeners group and Bundaberg Seed Savers! In the coming weeks look for photo galleries, an online newsletter archive, and forums for members and interested folks to share ideas.

You can create an account on the left - it will allow you to add comments to the website. And if you're a financial member of the Bundaberg Organic Gardeners or a newsletter subscriber, you will have access to all of the group newsletters online too! We suggest you use your full name (Firstname Lastname) as your username so other members know who you are and to make it easy to remember your login. If you'd like to become a member, contact us!

All meetings of the Bundaberg Organic Gardeners group are held at the "Across The Waves Bowls Club" situated in the "Across The Waves Sports Complex" at the corner of Thabeban and Ritchie Street. This is a 2 storey building with a grandstand attached and our meeting will be in the lower section. The entrance to the complex is in Thabeban Street down from the railway crossing, just look for the sign "Across The Waves Sports Complex" and turn in the gates right next to the sign. Please note this is not at the Across The Waves Club in Miller Street – you must enter off Thabeban Street. Meeting start at 7pm on the last Tuesday of every month. (Doors open at 6.45pm.)

There is a $2 charge per person ($4 for non-members) to cover our costs and tea & coffee will be served after the meeting to give everyone a chance to chat. Financial membership is $15/year for adults and $5/year for children and pays for insurance and allows you to come to the group Field Days. Join us!

Pumpkin seeds

The January newsletter featured the health benefits of zinc in the diet and a good source is from pumpkin seeds. Does anyone have a recipe on how to process them and turn them into healthy snacks?

Hessian Bags

My worms love to have the comfort of a damp hessian bag. Short of having to pay cash for them does anyone know of a supply being dumped.

Green Harvest orders

Reminder to members to have their Green harvest order ready to give to Wendy for the next meeting. You may see the catalogue at www.greenharvest.com.au Your order must be placed with payment PLUS $1 towards postage. There will be no further orders placed until early next year.

Tom Wyatt Video 2: Don't Kill Bugs

In this second video - which is actually the beginning of his talk - Tom discusses all the reasons we should not kill bugs in the garden. They all have their jobs to do.

Tom Wyatt Video: Your Lawn & Pee

Of over two and a half hours of video of I have been editing out little sections to watch online. As I make my way through it I will post a couple more online while I continue to edit the best of the day into 45 minutes to an hour of DVD footage.

This first video is Tom Wyatt talking about Your Lawn & Pee. Enjoy!

Afternoon with Tom Wyatt in the Guardian

Take a look at today's Guardian newspaper, it should be on your front lawn somewhere. Mine was under a bush and I almost missed it. In it you will see a nice photo spread and article for the Afternoon with Tom Wyatt, put on by the Bundaberg Organic Gardeners. There are some great photos showing the personalities involved and the sheer volume of people who turned up.

A very professional production. Nicely done everybody!

Newsletter - well done Andi

No doubt about this girl, she is great! This, her first newsletter, had to be got out quickly to update and reassure members on the recent events that have taken place in the Club. Everyone, please support her with your comments and contributions. Afterall, it is YOUR newletter, your way of communicating with fellow gardeners.
